Alberta's CCS Carbon Offset Protocol Published

Alberta has published the world's first carbon offset policy for CCS.

Alberta Environment and Parks has approved and posted the Carbon Offset Quantification Protocol for CO2 Capture and Permanent Storage in Deep Saline Aquifers.

The protocol scope covers the full carbon capture and storage chain from capture through compression, transport, injection and storage.

The comments and response table from the 30 day public comment period is also available.
