DKK 28.7 billion has been allocated for the capture and storage of CO2 in the CCS pool. 16 projects applied to be prequalified for the pool. Of these, 10 projects were prequalified in May 2025. Eight of the projects submitted initial bids in August 2025.
"We are approaching the finish line in a tender process that has lasted since the autumn of 2024, and where many players have been involved in the field up to the deadline. I would like to acknowledge the great effort that has been put into the many players and the broad interest there has been in the pool. The bottom line today is that we have two offers, which we are now starting to evaluate," says Peter Christian Baggesgaard Hansen, Deputy Director General of the Danish Energy Agency.
The deadline for submitting final bids to the pool had already been postponed from 27 January to 4 February 2026. The Danish Energy Agency will now assess the bids received. The expected date for the award of contracts is April 2026.
